PropertyEU: Panattoni confirms top rank in Europe

For the seventh time in a row, Panattoni is being distinguished as Europe’s largest industrial and logistics property developer in the PropertyEU ranking. The industry survey assesses the leading European actors based on their respectively erected surface areas from 2020 to 2022. The projects currently in development and the investment volume are also taken into account.

Panattoni, the leading project developer for industrial and logistics properties in Europe, took first place in the PropertyEU ranking with a completed surface area of more than eight million m² in 302 projects. That means, during the observed period, the development company developed three times more surface area than the second place. In addition, more than four million m² are currently in development in 119 property projects with an investment of just under five billion euros.

On the German market, Panattoni has a well-filled project pipeline with a total volume of more than 615,000 m² of floor space. Panattoni Germany is currently developing, among other things, build-to-suit (BTS) projects for the Fressnapf Group in Neuruppin, Brandenburg, for the family-owned company Dachser SE in Rottenburg, Baden-Wuerttemberg, for the Kühne+Nagel Group in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and for the Brucker freight forwarding company in Schwäbisch Gmünd. In Dettelbach, Bavaria, Panattoni recently completed new logistics centres for the fashion company S.OLIVER and the logistics service provider Dachser SE.

In Könnern, Saxony-Anhalt, the company is currently planning to develop a pioneering new construction project with four modern commercial plots. The new Panattoni Park Halle (Saale) North is slated to provide users a total of 159,000 m² of usable space, distributed across 17 units in four warehouses. Further plots at attractive locations in Germany will be announced in the coming months.

Panattoni is also working at full capacity to promote the urban business parks built according to the “City Dock” concept and is currently constructing two of the business parks in Mannheim and Sindelfingen (both in Baden-Wuerttemberg). The start of construction on both projects is imminent. With innovative campus projects in Hanover, the capital of Lower Saxony, and in Berlin, the developer is also creating solutions for the lack of space in urban zones and is linking the concepts of the Panattoni Parks and City Docks at excellent locations.

At the transport logistic, the international trade show for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management, which will take place from May 9th to 12th, 2023, on the Munich Exhibition Centre grounds, the developer will receive its partners and customers with eight national branches. Panattoni will have representatives from Denmark, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Sweden, Poland, the Netherlands, Austria and Germany. Over the course of the four trade show days, the objective is to discuss current business developments and find solutions for urgent sustainability requirements. With 2,300 exhibitors from 67 countries, the leading trade show has nearly returned to pre-COVID attendance and, from the exhibitor side, is more international than ever.

“As the largest developer on the German and European markets, we currently have a number of projects with exciting customers and partners at attractive locations. We are excited about and looking forward to the conversations at the transport logistic which will once again be analog. We have a lot planned and want to support companies in their optimisation and growth by offering innovative and sustainably constructed projects. Furthermore, it is very important to us that we imagine the further path toward climate neutrality,” says Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner at Panattoni Germany and Austria.

With its Green Building concept and an expert group founded by Panattoni that focuses on the implementation of the ESG sustainability criteria on the company level and in the individual property projects, Panattoni is taking concrete steps to achieve holistic sustainability within the company. The developer decided to completely do without harmful, fossil energy sources and exclusively use air-heat pumps in the future, protect water resources even more effectively and intensify the recycling of demolition materials. Since 2022, the company has supported the Deutsche Brownfield Verband (German Brownfield Association) in the development of Germany’s first Brownfield register and has provided an advisory board representative since March 2023.
